Job summary

OCL Group Inc. in Edmonton is seeking a detail-oriented Safety Administrator to support our HSE department on multiple projects on a temporary basis. The role reports to the Health and Safety Manager from our Edmonton head office.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety documentation, coordinating training, and assisting with safety policy updates. 1–3 years' safety admin experience and proficiency with Google Workspace are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a safety administrator role for heavy civil or industrial construction.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation is an asset.
  • NCSO designation is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Health and Safety is an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills; experience with Google Workspace is required.
  • Experience with Bis Trainer is an asset.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support to the Regional Safety Leads and Health and Safety Manager.
  • Ensure safety certification and documentation for all employees is up to date.
  • File and organize Health & Safety paperwork; manage related databases.
  • Maintain workplace first aid boxes and safety equipment; track training logs.
  • Coordinate safety training attendance and return-to-work programs as needed.
  • Support Joint Health & Safety Committee activities and contribute to SMS improvements.
  • Assist with creation and updating of company safety policies and documentation.

The Role

We are currently recruiting a detail oriented, computer savvy Safety Administrator to support our HSE department on multiple projects on a temporary basis. This position will be based out of the Edmonton Head Office and reports into the Health and Safety Manager.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provide general administrative support and assistance to the Regional Safety Leads and Health and Safety Manager
  • Ensure all safety certification and documentation is completed and up to date for all employees
  • Filing and organization of all Health and Safety paperwork
  • Responsible for data entry and maintenance of various related databases
  • Maintain workplace first aid boxes, fire extinguishers, training logs etc
  • Ensure employees attend all applicable safety training
  • Facilitate modified and return to work programs for injured employees
  • Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of the Safety Management System
  • Assist with the creation and updating of company policies and safety documentation
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
  • 1 –3 years of experience in a safety administrator role preferably working for a heavy civil or industrial construction company
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation is considered an asset
  • Working towards an NCSO designation is considered an asset.
  • Post secondary education in Health and Safety is considered an asset
  • Excellent computer skills. We are a Google based company so prior experience with Google Sheets, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Gmail, etc. is highly sought after
  • Experience with Bis Trainer is considered an asset
  • Looking for a self-motivated individual that requires minimal supervision
  • Must be extremely detail oriented.
  • Able to prioritize assignments and work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Steel toe boots required
  • Ability to travel and work on site as required
  • Can pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test as required to access sites
