Job summary

OCL Group Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Safety Administrator to support the HSE department on multiple projects from our Edmonton Head Office.

The role reports to the Health and Safety Manager and offers a path to contribute to safety certification, documentation, and training programs. The position requires 1–3 years in safety administration within heavy civil or industrial construction, strong computer skills with Google apps, and a readiness to travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a safety administrator role preferably with heavy civil or industrial construction.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation is an asset.
  • NCSO designation is an asset.
  • Post secondary education in Health and Safety is considered an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills; Google Sheets, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Gmail are highly sought after.
  • Experience with Bis Trainer is an asset.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented with ability to prioritize under pressure.
  • Positive attitude with willingness to learn.
  • Class 5 driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Steel toe boots required.
  • Ability to travel and work on site as required.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test as required to access sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support to the Health & Safety team.
  • Ensure safety certifications and documentation are up to date for all employees.
  • File and organize Health & Safety paperwork.
  • Data entry and maintenance of related databases.
  • Maintain workplace first aid boxes, fire extinguishers, training logs.
  • Ensure employees attend applicable safety training.
  • Facilitate return-to-work programs for injured employees.
  • Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Contribute to continual Safety Management System improvements.
  • Help create and update company safety policies and documentation.

The Role

We are currently recruiting a detail oriented, computer savvy Safety Administrator to support our HSE department on multiple projects on a temporary basis. This position will be based out of the Edmonton Head Office and reports into the Health and Safety Manager.

What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly wage. Negotiable, based on experience.
  • Overtime after 8 hours per day at 1.5 x the regular rate.
  • 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on all regular hours worked.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

The Safety Administrator will play an important role in providing administrative support to the Health & Safety team.

  • Provide general administrative support and assistance to the Regional Safety Leads and Health and Safety Manager.
  • Ensure all safety certification and documentation is completed and up to date for all employees.
  • Filing and organization of all Health and Safety paperwork.
  • Responsible for data entry and maintenance of various related databases.
  • Maintain workplace first aid boxes, fire extinguishers, training logs etc.
  • Ensure employees attend all applicable safety training.
  • Facilitate modified and return to work programs for injured employees.
  • Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of the Safety Management System.
  • Assist with the creation and updating of company policies and safety documentation.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
  • 1 –3 years of experience in a safety administrator role preferably working for a heavy civil or industrial construction company.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation is considered an asset.
  • Working towards an NCSO designation is considered an asset.
  • Post secondary education in Health and Safety is considered an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills. We are a Google based company so prior experience with Google Sheets, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Gmail, etc. is highly sought after.
  • Experience with Bis Trainer is considered an asset.
  • Looking for a self-motivated individual that requires minimal supervision.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented.
  • Able to prioritize assignments and work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation.
  • Steel toe boots required.
