Job summary

Domtar Corporation in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is seeking a Human Resources Manager for the Thunder Bay Sawmill. This full-time, permanent role leads HR and Labour Relations for the site, guiding recruitment, policy development, workforce planning, payroll support and training initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in HR or related field, 5–7 years of experience, strong communication, analytical, and project management skills, plus knowledge of employment laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Human Resources or related field is an asset.
• 5 to 7 years of equivalent experience.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical skills with sound judgement under pressure.
• Excellent project and time management skills.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
• Facilitation and issue resolution skills.
• Understanding of federal and provincial employment laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Operations Management & Supervisory group on Labour Relation issues.
• Coordinate the recruitment and selection process for Thunder Bay Sawmill.
• Lead policy, procedure development and certification programs.
• Manage manpower and scheduling for the Thunder Bay Sawmill.
• Support and inform operations for progressive work systems and Labour contract management.
• Assist with grievance resolution research and actions.
• Support payroll processes and data accuracy.
• Assist with training, development programs and disability management/return-to-work programs.
