Job summary

Thurber Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our Edmonton, Alberta team, supporting the end-to-end employee lifecycle for field, lab and office staff across geotechnical, environmental and materials engineering disciplines.

You will partner with management and staff, ensure compliance with provincial standards, and drive HR programs from recruiting to performance management while collaborating with IT and Health & Safety teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, or related field.
• 5–10 years of progressive HR experience across the full employee lifecycle.
• CPHR designation preferred.
• Solid understanding of relevant legislation and its application.
• Proficiency with HRIS, MS Office (Excel), and data-driven workforce reporting.
• Willingness to travel within Canada (less than 5%).

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end employee lifecycle across all locations.
• Assist with job descriptions and talent acquisition processes.
• Support onboarding and orientation processes.
• Provide training and coaching for staff.
• Manage HR programs and records in HRIS.
• Support offboarding and exit interviews.
• Guide performance reviews and development plans.
• Advise on leaves, benefits, and return-to-work processes.
• Stay current on provincial employment standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with IT and Health & Safety on HR initiatives.
