Position Summary

The HR Generalist role is responsible for the day-to-day HR and benefits administration, including recruiting and policy implementation. This position will assist with HR needs in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Denver, Colorado. Our ideal candidate has strong administrative skills, is organized with an eye for detail, strong communication skills, and good knowledge of HR principles.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation; benefits; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance, update policies and/or procedures as required
  • Recruit, phone screen, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, including collaborating with managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings, and drafting employment agreements
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, offboarding and exit interviews, including entering data into HRIS and auditing for accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Prepare HR-related correspondence including employment letters, verification letters, and termination and severance letters
  • Conduct employee eligibility verifications such as background and reference checks
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors including employment agencies
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors
  • Implement and administer employee policies and promote positive employee relations
  • Analyze and create reports based on HR metrics
  • Be well-versed in laws and regulations regarding hiring and firing
  • Assist in developing and executing company procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations
  • Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole, and to improve employee experience
  • Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, events, and activities
  • Maintain employee files and records
  • Participate in the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in human resources management or related field required
  • Experience: 3-5 years of human resource management experience.
    • Working towards CPHR designation an asset
  • Good knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights and WorkSafe legislation as well as human resources management fundamentals
  • Experience with HRIS/ATS/Payroll Systems
    • Knowledge of BambooHR an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Resourceful mindset with attention to detail and high-quality standards
  • Ability to audit own work for accuracy and completeness
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Computer Skills: Excellent knowledge of MS Office, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
