The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Office Services, the HR Generalist will play a key role on our small HR team. This newly created position offers a rare opportunity to help shape and build our HR infrastructure from the ground up. You will work closely with the HR Business Partner, the SVP of HR, and leaders across the organization to develop and implement HR programs that support evolving business needs. As the first point of contact for HR-related matters, you will manage day-to-day operations and ensure a seamless employee experience.
Your core responsibilities will include onboarding, performance management, HRIS administration, compensation and benefits, policy guidance, and internal HR communications. This is a role for someone who thrives in building structure, enjoys solving problems, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment. As part of a collaborative team, you will help cultivate a positive employee experience and contribute to a culture grounded in our CARE Values.
This is a full-time, hybrid position, encouraging you to be onsite in our Toronto office approximately 1-3 days per week on average.
Who You Are
You want to step into a high-impact generalist role in a fast-paced startup environment where you can work autonomously, collaborate, build, and impact. You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset who takes the initiative to find solutions, takes accountability for results and is not afraid to roll up your sleeves and do the work that needs to be done.
What’s In It For You:
Autonomy and Ownership. You will be part of shaping how HR is delivered by owning and defining critical components of our function. Your expertise will be sought for practical recommendations and solutions, and you will contribute directly to developing and implementing policies, programs, and processes. Your input will help establish the foundation of a modern, responsive HR function. You will play a key role in implementing our new Human Capital Management (HCM) system.
Strategic Exposure with Visible Impact. As part of a lean, high-performing team, you will gain hands-on experience across the business—from underwriting and claims to technology and executive leadership. You will collaborate closely with managers and have rare access to the executive team at the Generalist level. Your work will shape our employee experience, culture, and HR infrastructure—bringing structure and consistency to a fast-paced, evolving environment where your contributions are immediately seen and valued.
Career-Defining Growth with Purpose. This is more than a job—it is a launchpad for a long-term diverse HR career. You will broaden your expertise across core HR functions while being mentored by senior leaders who value innovation, strategic thinking, and growth. At the same time, you will be contributing to a values-led organization driven by a meaningful mission: to Inspire Confidence and Accelerate Progress as part of the global Tokio Marine Group.
