Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate to support HR data governance and lifecycle management. You will contribute to policies, standards, and controls for HR data and help drive governance across the workforce information ecosystem.

The role requires collaboration with business, technology, legal, compliance, and risk partners, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid Montreal environment. Fluency in French and English is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in data governance, information governance, records management, data management, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of data lifecycle management concepts, including retention schedules, archival strategies, and disposition requirements.
• Experience supporting governance initiatives or cross-functional projects involving business and technology stakeholders.
• Understanding of data quality, reference data management, metadata management, or data stewardship principles.
• Knowledge of information management policies, standards, and controls related to the management and protection of HR and business data.
• Ability to analyze requirements, solve process and data-related challenges, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across functions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a complex environment.
• At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Support HR data lifecycle management activities, including data retention, archival, and requirements.
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR information management policies, standards, and controls governing the creation, retention, protection, and disposition of workforce data and records.
• Manage defined workstreams within data governance initiatives, including Reference Data Management (Project Starboard), partnering with stakeholders to improve data quality, consistency, and usability.
• Collaborate with business, technology, legal, compliance, and risk partners to translate governance requirements into practical processes and controls.
• Monitor governance processes and data management practices, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and strengthen compliance.
• Support data stewardship activities by helping document standards, resolve data issues, and promote adoption of governance practices across HR.
