Salary: G: $30.33/hr

Program Overview – Housing Operations East - Housing & Homelessness Services

The Housing & Homelessness Services Unit’s primary goal is to help street-involved people and/or those with low income find and maintain appropriate housing, working within an eviction prevention model. This work aligns with WoodGreen’s commitment to community building, development, anti-discrimination, and harm reduction.

What You Will Do
Property Management Responsibilities:
  • Administer RGI for tenants, including income reviews, notifications, and calculations.
  • Manage intake processes, background checks, generate leases, and conduct orientation.
  • Collect rent, manage payment schedules, follow up on arrears, and issue LTB notices.
  • Coordinate with building services to maintain units and facilities.
  • Educate tenants on maintenance responsibilities per tenancy agreements.
Housing Administration & Tenant Relations Responsibilities:
  • Assess tenant needs, address issues, and facilitate problem resolution.
  • Encourage tenant engagement and participation in building management.
  • Provide information on tenants' rights and responsibilities.
  • Support community standards development, conflict resolution, and grievance mediation.
  • Offer support and referrals for tenants managing personal or interpersonal issues.
  • Intervene in crises and mediate disputes related to tenancy.
  • Address security and barriers to maintaining tenancy.
  • Support tenants in housing retention through follow-ups and support coordination.
  • Communicate tenant needs to management and liaise with external agencies.
Community Development Programming:
  • Develop programs to foster community, social interaction, and empowerment.
  • Assess social and recreational needs of tenants.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan and deliver programs.
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting individuals with street involvement or low income.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act, Housing Services Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
  • Experience in property management, lease administration, rent collection, and unit turnover.
  • Experience with group facilitation and understanding group dynamics.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience working with women who have experienced violence, addiction, or homelessness.
  • Knowledge of issues faced by newcomers to Canada.
  • Familiarity with client-centered, feminist, and anti-oppressive frameworks.
  • Skills in conflict resolution, crisis response, de-escalation, advocacy, and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of community resources supporting low-income, mental health, addiction, or trauma-affected individuals.
  • Cultural competency and effective communication with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
