Qualifications

Job DescriptionPosition Title:Housekeeping/Laundry Aide (Casual) – Pine Meadow Nursing HomeTime Type:CasualPosting Date:2026-08-06Primary Location:Pine Meadow Nursing HomeJob Description:Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Housekeeping Aide is responsible for the cleaning and sanitization of all Resident's rooms and common areas.Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Laundry Aide is responsible for the collection, sorting, washing, repair and delivery of Resident's laundry.Key Responsibilities:Housekeeping AideTo clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures;To clean Resident's room and common areas, including furniture, kitchen and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents and windows;To operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment;To strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces;To pick up garbage and transport to designated areas;Laundry AideTo assist in the collection and sorting of soiled personal clothing and linens and pre- treat stains as required;To load and unload washers and dryers ensuring that proper settings are used and that chemical supplies are at an appropriate level;To inspect soiled linens or personal laundry and complete any required repairs, e.g. rips, tears, buttons;To fold, segregate and stack linens and residents' clothing and ironing as required;To deliver linens and clothing to appropriate areas;To adhere to established residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices;To prepare documentation as required according to residence policy;To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it;To attend in-service training as required in order to better serve the needs of the residents;To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that have taken place;To participate in the Quality Improvement Program;To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);To uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Pine Meadow Nursing Home’s Code of Conduct;To complete other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Strong oral and written English communication skillsAbility to follow instructions and provide feedback on a day-to-day basisKnowledge and experience with institutional cleaning techniques, commercial laundry procedures and ability to meet physical requirements of the jobMust be familiar with standard sewing and mending techniques.Demonstrated knowledge of proper linen care and stain removalPrevious experience in commercial/residential/Healthcare cleaning and laundry procedures is desirableAbility to work with minimal supervisionProficiency in a second language is an assetMust provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.Compensation DetailsAs per the Collective Agreement $22.97 - $24.80 per hourWe are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents in our long-term care home.
