Job summary

Extendicare's Pine Meadow Nursing Home is hiring a Personal Support Worker (Casual) to provide direct care to residents under the direction of the Director of Care. You will assist with mobility, feeding, bathing, toileting and grooming, and support residents' participation in activities while offering emotional and social support to families.

The role requires PSW certification in Ontario, strong communication skills, physical stamina, a valid driver's license, and a clear Vulnerable Sector

Qualifications

• PSW certification from an Ontario institution or district school board.
• Able to perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Compassion, professionalism, and respect.
• Strong customer and resident service skills; experience in fast-paced settings.
• Flexible, willing to learn new tasks, able to multi-task.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• English reading/writing; other languages an asset.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Screen.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) you will provide direct care to residents in accordance with policies, procedures and work routines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with mobility, feeding, bathing, toileting and personal grooming
• Encourage resident participation in activities and programs
• Provide emotional and social support to residents and families

Qualifications

• PSW certification, from an Ontario post-secondary institution or district school board that meets the requirements set by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
• Able to perform physical tasks and duties, including frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Compassion, professionalism, and respect.
• Experience with an older adult population an asset.
• Strong customer and resident service skills. Experience in a high paced customer service setting an asset.
• Flexible and willingness to learn new tasks.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to quickly changing priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English (other languages an asset).
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• A clear Vulnerable Sector Screen.

Compensation Details

As per the Collective Agreement $27.34 - $29.14 per hour.
