Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Housekeeping Aide in Canada. The role focuses on cleaning residents' apartments and common areas, operating cleaning equipment, and maintaining sanitization standards across the residence.

You will follow schedules, uphold safety policies, and participate in training and improvement programs. Ideal candidates have strong English communication, prior cleaning experience in healthcare or similar settings, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures.

• Operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment.
• Strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces.
• Adhere to residence policies and safety rules and safe working practices.
• Prepare documentation as required according to residence policy.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Work with residents in a respectful, trusting manner and uphold the organization's values.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Housekeeping Aide

Mission

The Housekeeper is responsible for the cleaning and sanitization of all residents' apartments and common areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures.
• Clean residents' apartments and common areas, including furniture, kitchen and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents, and windows.
• Operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment.
• Strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces.
• Pick up garbage and transport it to designated areas.
• Adhere to established residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices.
• Prepare documentation as required according to residence policy.
• Be aware of the Residents' Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote them.
• Attend in-service training as required to better serve the needs of residents.
• Attend staff meetings as required to remain aware of changes within the residence.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
• Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy, particularly relating to ethics, morality, and integrity, as outlined in Extendicare's Code of Conduct.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
