Job summary

Providence Health Care is hiring casual Housekeeping Aides to support the Environmental Services Department at St. Vincent Langara, Brock Fahrni, and Youville. Under supervision, you will perform light and heavy cleaning to keep patient areas safe, clean and welcoming for residents, staff and visitors.

This role emphasizes infection prevention, patient comfort, and efficient turnover of rooms. The position offers flexible casual shifts and on-the-job training within a large Canadian health

Qualifications

• Education: Grade 10 or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning duties and operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect healthcare areas including patient rooms and operating spaces.
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces daily and maintain cleanliness of equipment.
• Restock hygiene supplies in dispensers and restrooms.
• Perform discharge cleaning of rooms, bed stripping and linen handling.
• Move equipment and furniture using appropriate tools and maintain cleaning equipment.
• Manage waste disposal and report safety hazards to supervisors.

The salary range for this position is CAD $25.82/Hr. - CAD $25.82/Hr.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Housekeeping – the Housekeeping Aide performs a variety of light and heavy cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The Housekeeping Aide plays a front-line role in supporting infection prevention and control, maintaining patient comfort and dignity, and ensuring operational efficiency through timely turnover of patient and treatment rooms.

Your Day to Day:

• Cleans and disinfects various healthcare areasincluding patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms, covering all surfaces like floors, walls, and ceilings.
• Sanitizes high-touch surfaces daily, such as medical equipment, toilets, sinks, furniture, and door handles.
• Restocks hygiene suppliesin dispensers, including paper towels, toilet paper, soap, lotion, and hand sanitizer.
• Performs discharge cleaningof rooms, including bed stripping, tidying, and transporting soiled linens.
• Handles equipment and furniture transportusing appropriate tools and maintains cleaning equipment by replacing parts and performing upkeep.
• Manages waste disposal, reports equipment issues and safety hazards, and ensures proper documentation to supervisors.
