Job summary

Extendicare is hiring a full-time housekeeping associate to support long-term care residents across Canada, including Kingston, Ontario. The role covers cleaning, supplying, and basic repairs while adhering to safety and infection control policies.

• Perform outside work such as removing snow, and sanding or salting as required.
• Adhere to established department policies and procedures regarding quality management, safety, environment and infection control.
• Cooperate with other departments in transferring residents, moving and storing supplies, and moving furniture and equipment.
• Participates in infection control, quality management and safety committees.
• Maintains required records and information as directed.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform Tasks Such As

• Mixing solutions for nursing and housekeeping staff, delivering supplies, removal of garbage, stripping floors

As required, cleaning windows and lights, sweeping and scrubbing areas such as janitor's closet, service entrance, laundry room, dining rooms, and elevators, performing heavy housekeeping duties and small repairs.

• Performs outside work such as removing snow, and sanding or salting as required.
• Adheres to established department policies and procedures regarding quality management, safety, environment and infection control.
• Cooperates with other departments in such tasks as transferring residents, moving and storing supplies, and moving furniture and equipment.
• Participates in committee meetings such as infection control, quality management and safety, as required.
• Maintains required records and information as directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Moving equipment.
• Considerable reaching, squatting, kneeling, crouching and climbing ladders.
• May be exposed to hazards from use of tools and power equipment.
• Exposure to biochemical substances and weather conditions.
