Major Duties and Responsibilities

Following specific procedures, work patterns and routines as outlined in training and orientation, the associate will perform tasks such as:

• Mixing solutions for nursing and housekeeping staff, delivering supplies, removal of garbage, stripping floors.
• Cleaning windows and lights, sweeping and scrubbing areas such as janitor's closet, service entrance, laundry room, dining rooms, and elevators, performing heavy housekeeping duties and small repairs.
• Performing outside work such as removing snow, and sanding or salting as required.
• Adhering to established department policies and procedures regarding quality management, safety, environment and infection control.
• Cooperating with other departments in tasks such as transferring residents, moving and storing supplies, and moving furniture and equipment.
• Participating in committee meetings such as infection control, quality management and safety, as required.
• Maintaining required records and information as directed.

Working Conditions

• Extensive standing and walking.
• Moving equipment.
• Considerable reaching, squatting, kneeling, crouching and climbing ladders.
• May be exposed to hazards from use of tools and power equipment.
• Exposure to biochemical substances and weather conditions.
