Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Housekeeper in Brantford, Ontario. The role involves cleaning resident apartments and common areas, operating floor care and steam cleaning equipment, and maintaining safety and cleanliness across the facility.

The candidate will participate in in-service training, attend staff meetings, and uphold Extendicare’s values and Code of Conduct while supporting a high standard of care for residents.

Qualifications

• Good oral and written English communication skills.
• Knowledge of standard institutional cleaning techniques.
• Experience in commercial/residential/healthcare cleaning and laundry preferred.
• Ability to meet physical requirements.
• Vulnerable Sector Check required or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident apartments and common areas per schedule.
• Operate floor care and steam cleaning equipment.
• Strip, scrub, spray and buff carpet and hard floors.
• Dispose of garbage and maintain safety standards.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
• Uphold resident rights and Extendicare's Code of Conduct.

Job DescriptionMission:The Housekeeper is responsible for the cleaning and sanitization of all Resident's apartmentand common areas.Key Responsibilities:• To clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitationmethods and procedures;• To clean Resident's apartments and common areas, including furniture, kitchen andwashroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents and windows;• To operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment;• To strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces;• To pick up garbage and transport to designated areas;• To adhere to established residence policies and procedures, including safety rules andsafe working practices;• To prepare documentation as required according to residence policy;• To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect andpromote it;• To attend in-service training as required in order to better serve the needs of theresidents;• To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that havetaken place;• To participate in the Quality Improvement Program;• To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);• To uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly toethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Extendicare’s Code of Conduct;• To complete other duties as assigned.Qualifications:• Good oral and written English communication skills• Ability to provide feedback on a day-to-day basis- Knowledge and experience withstandard institutional cleaning techniques• Previous experience in commercial / residential/ Healthcare cleaning and laundryprocedures is desirable• Ability to work with minimal supervision• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job• Proficiency in a second language is an asset• Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check(including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.What Extendicare has to offer:At Extendicare, we believe that working as a team creates an environment that allows us toreach our potential.
