Job summary

Algoma Manor Nursing Home is seeking a dedicated environmental cleaner to maintain the hygiene and safety of residents' rooms and common areas. You will follow standardized procedures to ensure tour readiness and assist with cleaning of offices and public spaces.

Ideal candidates have WHMIS certification and prior housekeeping or laundry experience in a long-term care environment, with a strong focus on infection control and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of infection control and cleaning practices.
• Experience in housekeeping operations and equipment handling.
• WHMIS certification and a high school diploma are required or desirable.
• Experience with laundry in a long-term care setting is valued.

• Provides all aspects of environmental cleaning in assigned work areas.
• Maintains neatness and cleanliness of residents' rooms, offices and common areas following standardized procedures.
• Prepares rooms for new occupants to ensure tour readiness.

• Provides all aspects of environmental cleaning in assigned work areas.


• Following standardized procedures, is responsible to ensure daily the neatness and cleanliness of residents' rooms, offices and common areas including, but not limited to, rooms and equipment including: furniture, closets, windows, walls, floors, shower and tub rooms, washrooms, reception area, break rooms, etc.


• Prepares room for new occupant following prescribed procedures to ensure tour ready at all times.


• Using specified cleaning/disinfecting/sanitizing agents, maintains optimal levels of infection control within the work area.


• Working knowledge of operational policies and procedures, and objectives regarding quality improvement, safety, and infection control protocols, and legislative and regulatory standards.
