Job summary

EXTENDICARE is seeking a Part-time Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, visitors, and contractors in our long-term care home. You will clean resident rooms, common areas, dining areas, washrooms, and service spaces following established procedures.

The role supports infection prevention and control, uses approved cleaning chemicals, and reports maintenance concerns.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping experience in healthcare or related settings is an asset.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, dining rooms, lounges, offices, and other facility spaces.
• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and high-touch surfaces.
• Empty garbage and recycling containers and dispose of waste according to facility procedures.
• Clean and replenish washrooms with required supplies.
• Spot clean walls, doors, windows, handrails, light switches, and other surfaces.
• Maintain dining rooms, serveries, activity rooms, lounges, and nursing station areas throughout the day.
• Perform scheduled deep cleaning tasks, including floor care, furniture cleaning, window cleaning, and detailed disinfecting.
• Support infection prevention and control practices by following proper cleaning, disinfecting, and waste-handling procedures.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, and supply shortages.
• Maintain housekeeping equipment, cleaning carts, and storage areas in a clean and organized manner.
• Assist with seasonal cleaning and special projects as assigned.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure resident comfort and satisfaction.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support resident care and operational needs.
