Human Resources provides programs and services in support of CUE’s comprehensive institution plan and strategic goals. As part of the Human Resources team, the Hourly Human Resources Assistant supports leaders, faculty, staff, and academic colleague inquiries, delivering client-focused and timely response and service.

The Hourly Human Resources Assistant supports the day-to-day coordination of activities related to the operations of the department. This position plays a key role in fostering strong communication, building relationships, and contributing to efficient service delivery. The Hourly Human Resources Assistant responds to employee inquiries while delivering consistent client-focused and timely service.

Responsibilities

  • Representing the Human Resources department when responding to employee, candidate and public inquiries.
  • Supporting recruitment and selection process through:
    • Conducting pre-screen calls and scheduling interviews.
    • Maintaining competition/selection documentation and employee files.
    • Completion of reference, academic, criminal record and background checks.
  • Coordinates and support delivery of new employee orientations and onboarding processes.
  • Coordinates and support employee offboarding and exit interviews.
  • Requesting information technology access, email accounts and updating information on the internal intranet.
  • Provides general administrative support.
  • Participates in organizing, planning, and delivering employee events.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of Human Resources practices, processes, and client service.
  • Participates in Human Resources initiatives and projects in support of the institutional plan and strategic goals.
Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree or diploma; experience in academia and/or Human Resources is considered an asset
  • Previous Human Resources experience is considered an asset
  • Strong client-focused service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.
  • Skilled in written and oral communication, attention to detail, and multi-tasking.
  • Experience in working with competing deadlines and large degree of independence.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player
  • Experience with HRIS.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office and Google applications.
  • Strong technology literacy with the ability to work in a paper-free environment
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check results.
