Job summary

The Assistant Maintenance Manager at Fantasyland Hotel, part of West Edmonton Mall Property Inc., leads day-to-day hotel maintenance operations and preventive programs to ensure safety, reliability and guest comfort. You’ll coach the maintenance team, manage work orders and CMMS, and support budgets, scheduling and compliance with safety standards.

With 3+ years in hospitality maintenance, you will communicate effectively, lift up to 50 lbs, and use MS Office to report on performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in hospitality.
• Trade certification in a related trade is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., as well as the ability to work at heights when required.
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Support the Hotel Maintenance Manager in daily operations, including guest service standards and budget adherence.
• Schedule, train, motivate and develop maintenance staff; provide coaching and conduct reviews.
• Oversee maintenance work orders and CMMS, ensuring documentation and completion.
• Lead capital projects and property rehabilitations with budgeting and contractor bidding.
• Monitor maintenance records and resolve irregularities.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs, inspections, and capital projects.
• Collaborate with HR on hiring, training and discipline.
• Assist in operating budget preparation and approve work orders.
• Represent the Hotel Safety committee to uphold safety standards and permits.
• Perform other responsibilities as required.

The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the Fantasyland Hotel Maintenance team, ensuring the effective maintenance of hotel infrastructure through proactive and preventive maintenance programs. This role provides leadership to the maintenance team, oversees maintenance projects, and supports compliance with health and safety standards to maintain optimal hotel performance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the Hotel Maintenance Manager in the daily operation of the maintenance department, including, but not limited to, guest service standards and initiatives, product quality, inventory management and cost controls, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, adherence to federal, provincial and local standards and meeting participation and facilitation
• Support scheduling, training,motivatingand developingthe maintenance team, providingongoing coaching,feedbackand conductingemployee reviews when required
• Oversee prioritization, assignment, and completion of regular maintenance work orders and CMMS, ensuring maintenance activities are documented, prioritized, assigned, and closed
• Leading, managing and communicating information about capital projects and property rehabilitations, including, but not limited to, scheduling, budgeting and complying with contractor bidding standard
• Monitor and review all maintenance records to ensure checks are complete and irregularities have been recorded and resolved
• Support the development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including equipment inspections, hotel facility assessments, and capital improvement projects
• Work with Human Resources to ensure all hiring, training, and discipline needs are being met
• Support preparation of operating budget and approving work orders
• Representative of the Hotel Safety committee to keep up the safety standard requirement of the facility, obtain required licenses and permits to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards
• Other responsibilities as required.
