Job summary

Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority is seeking a dedicated Security Worker to protect hostel facilities, parking areas, and SLFNHA properties. The role includes 12-hour shifts and requires vigilance, reporting, and coordination with local agencies.

Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates. The position offers casual permanent employment with opportunities for training and supportive teamwork in a community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Preference given to Indigenous candidates per OHRC Part II Special Employment.
• Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
• Experience in security or related training is preferred but not required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills appropriate for incident reporting.
• Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Protect hostel facility, parking lot, and SLFNHA properties.
• Conduct hourly checks of buildings, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
• Respond to alarms and incidents following security procedures.
• Prepare and submit incident reports; communicate with stakeholders.
• Coordinate with local agencies and provide client services to elders.
