The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) is hiring an Aide – Environmental Services (Housekeeping) in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. You will maintain cleanliness across hostel locations, cleaning rooms, bathrooms, and common areas to a high standard.

The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Reporting to the Supervisor – Client Services, you will support infection control and guest comfort while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Preference given to Persons of First Nations ancestry.
  • Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects is an asset.
  • Written and oral communication skills suitable for the role.
  • Experience in housekeeping, preferably in health services, is an asset.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Make beds with fresh linens and replace linens as required.
  • Empty trash and replace liners in rooms and lobbies.
  • Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
  • Disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, and floors; clean mirrors and walls.
  • Vacuum or mop floors in guest areas and corridors.
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces throughout the facility.
  • Replenish guest amenities as needed.

Hours of Work: 9am-5pm, Friday to Monday

Position Summary

As a crucial member of our team, the Aide – Environmental Services (Housekeeping) is responsible for keeping the hostel locations across Sioux Lookout at a high standard of cleanliness.

Accountability

The Aide – Environmental Services (Housekeeping) will be responsible for reporting to the designated Supervisor – Client Services.

Qualifications
  • Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
  • The ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
  • Written and oral communication skills acceptable to the employer that meet the requirements of the role of Aide – Environmental Services.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in a health services environment, would be an asset.
  • Must have the flexibility to work all shifts.
  • Must be an independent and self-motivated worker, as well as the ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Clean and Sanitize Guest Rooms, Bathrooms, and Common Areas
  • Make beds with fresh linens and change pillowcases, sheets, and towels as required
  • Empty trash bins and replace liners in rooms, bathrooms, and lobbies
  • Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, windowsills, baseboards, bedside tables, lamps, chairs, and reachable surfaces
  • Disinfect toilets, sinks, faucets, showers, and bathroom floors, clean mirrors and walls near water fixtures
  • Vacuum carpets or mop floors in guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, and lounges
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces (e.g. doorknobs, handrails, light switches) throughout the facility
  • Replenish guest amenities such as soap, toilet paper, towels, tissues, and other items as required
Working Conditions
  • It will require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Considerable walking, standing, lifting, pulling, pushing and bending.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 30 lbs.
