Job summary

Fairmont Banff Springs is seeking a Host to create memorable dining experiences in Banff. You will greet guests, seat them, and manage reservations with OpenTable while upholding Forbes and LQA standards.

The role requires flexibility for early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays and the ability to lift 40+ lbs and stand for long periods. Subsidized housing may be available for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Must have Pro-Serve Certification
• Previous food and beverage experience required
• Previous Open Table or similar reservation system experience an asset
• Must be able to carry and serve 3 plates at one time
• Schedule flexibility, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40+lbs and be on your feet for 8 hours or more

Responsibilities

• Complete Daily Operations (opening/closing duties, dining room prep, seating, reservations handling)
• Meet, greet and seat guests and maintain floor plans to match forecasted guest levels
• Handle guest requests and complaints professionally
• Update reservations in OpenTable and manage changes
• Assign tables and control service flow at the door
• Follow LQA and Forbes standards
• Maintain knowledge of menu items and beverage offerings
• Assist servers and porters as needed
• All other duties as assigned

Ready to be the face of exceptional dining experiences in the heart of Banff's breathtaking beauty? Step into the role of Host and ensure guests have an unforgettable dining experience.

Starting Rate:$18.70 per hour

We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase yearly, up to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $20.29

Job Duties Include:

• Complete Daily Operations (i.e. opening and closing duties, daily cleaning, dining room preparation, moving and arranging tables and chairs, reservation bookings, confirmations and cancellations, coordinating FOH and BOH with regards to services, guests, allergies, VIPs, etc.)
• Meet, greet and seat guests and maintain daily floor plans to suit forecasted guest and staffing levels
• Handle guest requests and complaints in a professional and polite manner
• Perform call backs to guests and update reservations information in Open Table
• Assign tables and control flow of service at the door with reservations and walk-in guests
• Follow LQA and Forbes standards
• Maintaining an extensive knowledge of menu items, beverage offerings and restaurant operations
• Assist servers and food porters as needed (setting up tables, side duties, etc.)
• All other duties as assigned
