Hospitalists at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) / University of Ottawa Division of General Internal Medicine

The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) / University of Ottawa Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) is seeking general internists and family physician hospitalists to provide clinical services for Acute Medical Inpatients at the Civic + General Campus.

TOH is at the forefront of healthcare in Canada, with a focus on exceptional patient care and practice-changing research. The Acute Medicine Hospitalist Program offers opportunities for expanding clinical skills, continuing professional development, research, and an excellent work-life balance in a supportive clinical environment. The program also features a Mentorship program for family physicians and offers flexible arrangements to integrate hospitalist medicine into outpatient practices.

Our program is expanding, and we are currently hiring for September.

Practice Setting :

1. The Ottawa Hospital – Civic + General Campus
2. EPIC EMR – full training provided
3. Workload: approximately 15 patients per physician (capped at 15)
4. 3 Physicians on at once, covering a total of 45 in-patients
5. 7-day rotation (Monday to Sunday)
6. Call requirements: on-call 1 in 3 when on-service (home call). Call coverage will focus on overnight issues for admitted inpatients.
7. Targeting one seven-day rotation per month per hospitalist; flexible arrangements are available.
8. GIM Consult team admits patients 24/7 into the team.

Skills Required

The ideal hospitalist candidate will :

1. Strive for excellent patient care
2. Possess strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills
3. Be either Internal Medicine (FRCPC) or Family Medicine (CCFP) trained
4. Have excellent English communication skills; French language skills would be an asset
5. Be eligible for an independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
6. Be registered in good standing with the CMPA

Remuneration :

1. Daily administrative stipend of $X/day + Fee-For-Service Billings
2. Call stipend of $Y + Fee-For-Service Billings during on-call periods
