Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Calgary is seeking a Physician Assistant to support hospital medicine services under the Department of Family Medicine. The PA will assist admissions, rounding, and discharge planning in a collaborative team with Hospitalist physicians and nursing staff.

The role requires Canadian PA certification, CPR HCP, and strong clinical reasoning. ACLS is preferred; relocation and schedule flexibility may be needed to meet service demands.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Canadian or U.S. Physician Assistant education program with current or eligible registration.
• Current CPR (HCP) certification; ACLS preferred.
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid Canadian work permit.
• Experience or interest in Acute Care is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support patient admissions and initial assessments; assist with inpatient management and care coordination.
• Facilitate discharge planning and transitions of care; liaise with unit teams and families.
• Collaborate closely with Hospitalist physicians, nursing staff, and subspecialists to ensure coordinated care.
• Provide education to patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
