Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking an Environmental Attendant to join the Operating Room Support team. The role involves cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring a safe, sanitary environment within the hospital's OR areas.

Employment is Temporary Full Time with a Monday–Friday schedule and alternating weekends. The position offers an hourly rate of CAD 27.758–28.306, and reports to the Manager, Acute Environmental & Linen Services.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School diploma, equivalent, or higher education required.
• Good command of English language essential (reading, verbal and written)
• Recent housekeeping experience preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (attend training as required)
• Ability to perform routine duties under noisy, busy conditions and time constraints
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 35 kg)
• Demonstrated ability to be a cooperative and team player
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, dust, and damp mop all assigned areas
• Dust, wash, and polish furniture and fixtures
• Clean and vacuum carpets where applicable
• Gather and dispose of garbage and linen
• Clean isolation rooms, broken glass and dispose of body fluids
• Clean stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs
• Follow department procedures for sign-in/out at shift start/end
• Participate in orientation and training of new staff
• Identify educational needs and communicate to management
• Participate in quality control checks and safety procedures
