Job description

Horticulture Technician Annuals – Assistant Lead is responsible for assisting in overseeing the Greenhouse/Annuals operations ensuring orders are accurately received from suppliers. As a hands-on team member, you will directly assist the supervisor setting up displays, merchandising and pricing of products. Provide a high level of service by greeting customers, answering queries; provide information and product knowledge on greenhouse products, annuals and seasonal plants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Foster a positive team environment. Ensure optimal customer service.
2. Greet customers and answer queries. Arrange for delivery or pick-up for customers as required.
3. Manually receive shipments, verify counts and process returns. Completes documentation.
4. Liaise with Office for product shortages, damages, etc. upon arrival.
5. Price, merchandise and create displays for products. Liaise with other departments as required.
6. Participate and ensure Health and Safety compliance.
7. Assist with delegating duties. Ensure that department and products are maintained; dead-heading, watering, re-potting, etc.
8. Coordinate and confirm staff scheduling based on business requirement.
9. Create a positive shopping experience for customers.
10. Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Enrollment or completion in a Horticulture Technician program highly recommended.
2. 2-3 years Supervisory or Team Lead experiences in Retail an asset.
3. Good communication skills.
4. Fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages an asset.
5. Good knowledge of annuals and other plant materials.
6. Good numeracy, organization and multitasking skills. Able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Able to manage and delegate staff. Works well in a team environment.
8. Highly motivated, positive and friendly attitude.
9. Flexible availability. Days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
10. Able to lift a minimum of 40lbs, bend and twist. Willing to work outdoors, safety boots required.
