Horticulture Technician Program

Job description

The Horticulture Technician Associate is responsible for helping to oversee the Greenhouse/Annuals/Seasonal operations ensuring orders are accurately received from suppliers. Setting up displays, merchandising and pricing of products. In addition, you will provide a high level of service by greeting customers, answering queries; providing information and product knowledge on greenhouse products, annuals and seasonal plants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Greet customers and answer queries.
  2. Provide information on products and services to customers.
  3. Price, merchandise and create displays for products.
  4. Liaise with other departments as required.
  5. Participate and ensure Health and Safety compliance.
  6. Ensure that department and products are maintained; dead-heading, watering, re-potting, etc.
  7. Receive shipments of annuals and vegetables.
  8. Maintain, clean, merchandise and ensure signage is up to date.
  9. Create a positive shopping experience for customers.
  10. Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Enrollment in a Horticulture Technician program recommended.
  2. 1-2 years of garden centre, horticulture, landscape retail experience recommended.
  3. Good organization skills. Able to manage time effectively.
  4. Fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages an asset.
  5. Positive and friendly attitude. Works well in a team environment.
  6. Good numeracy, organization and multitasking skills. Able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Flexible availability. Days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
  8. Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend and twist. Required to work outdoors; safety boots required.
