Qualifications

  • Ability to lift items of various heavy weights (20lbs+).

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload directional drill equipment securely.
  • Read underground utility installation drawings and locate clearances.
  • Work collaboratively with Supervisors and other team members safely and efficiently.

  • Troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with on-site crew.
  • Lift 50 pounds consistently and perform manual labour when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Operations - Telecom Full Time Winnipeg, MB $34.63 - $39.24 CAD per hour

Tri-Core Projects Ltd. is a Manitoba-based full service civil and environmental construction company that has been proudly operating since 2003. Our operations include demolition, site preparation, excavation, underground service installation, remediation services, telecom, and special projects.

Position Summary

We are looking to hire an experienced Horizontal Directional Driller with Locate and Class 3 License to join our Telecom Division. This individual must have a solid construction and mechanical skill set, positive attitude, and strong work ethic. The successful candidate is safety-conscious and able to drill and install fibre wire or pipes of various sizes under different obstructions, including dirt, roads, railways, rivers, and other impediments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Operate vehicles and equipment including but not limited to:

  • Vermeer S3 drills (23x30, 20x22, 10x15, 9x13) and F5/F2 Falcon locators
  • Drill Truck (Freightliner/Kenworth reefer trucks or F600/F550) with Felling trailers

- Load and unload directional drill equipment in a manner that is secure and damage-free

- Read and comprehend Underground Utility Installation drawings and Locate clearances/paperwork

- Work collaboratively with Supervisors and other team members to ensure work is done in a safe and efficient manner

- Transport associated tools, materials, and/or equipment in a safe manner

- Troubleshoot equipment as needed

- Communicate effectively with on-site crew, including use of hand-signals

- Lift 50 pounds consistently and perform manual labour when required

- Other duties as assigned

Safety Responsibilities:
  • Participate in daily on-site safety meeting and complete required daily and/or weekly Safety forms as requested by Supervisors or Management
  • Daily Permit on site prior to starting work
  • Daily inspection of vehicles and equipment
  • Discuss with the Supervisor the best way to set up your work area for maximum safety and productivity
  • Document and report any incidents and/or near-misses
  • Prior to starting daily work tasks, understand overhead and underground utilities in your work area
  • Operate equipment in a safe efficient manner, including minimizing equipment and vehicle idle time
  • Maintain current certifications, as required
  • Employee training and compliance
Qualifications:

- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

- Ability to work long and variable hours
