Job summary

Fort William First Nation seeks Home Support Worker(s)/Homemaker(s) to clean and maintain client homes under the Social Services Manager. Duties include inventory logging, repairs reporting, and meal preparation as assigned.

A secondary school diploma and 3–5 years of home cleaning experience are required; health fitness, First Aid/CPR are assets. A valid driver’s license is needed. You will work independently with strong multi-tasking and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma required.
• 3–5 years’ experience cleaning homes.
• Annually certified by a physician to be in good health.
• First Aid/ CPR certification considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent time and project management.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.

Responsibilities

• Dispose of garbage and recyclables and sanitize containers.
• Wash walls, doors, windows, and coverings.
• Perform high- and low-dusting of surfaces.
• Sanitize restrooms to highest standard.
• Clean and tidy all rooms in client homes.
• Cook/prepare client meals.
• Maintain inventory logs of supplies and notify when replenishment is needed.
• Report maintenance or repairs needed for cleaning equipment.

Home Support Worker(s)/Homemaker(s)

The Homemaker will report to and be under direct supervision of the Social Services Manager.

Position Description

The Homemaker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of individual homes as assigned by FWFN, maintain an accurate and current inventory log of all supplies and materials and report any necessary repairs and/or maintenance requirements or cleaning equipment. The Homemaker may be assigned other duties as required.

Major Responsibilities

• Dispose of all garbage and recyclables in the client's home and ensure the garbage containers and recycle bins are sanitized before being placed in the house.
• Wash walls, door handles, doors, trim, windows and window coverings.
• Perform high- and low-dusting of tables, electronics, shelves, baseboards and other surfaces.
• Ensure the restroom facilities, including the shower, tub, toilet, sink and mirrors are sanitized to the highest standard.
• Clean light fixtures and change light bulbs/tubes as required.
• Clean and tidy up all rooms in the client's home, including the bedroom(s), living room, kitchen, restroom, and various other rooms
• Cook/prepare client meals
• Monitor and report any maintenance and/or repairs needed for cleaning equipment.
• Maintain an inventory log of materials and supplies and notify the need for replenishing prior to supplies being depleted.
• Ensure the highest standard of service and quality.

Wage: $21.33/hour
