Job summary

ComForCare Home Health Care - Halton is seeking a compassionate Home Companion to join our team in Campbellville and Milton, ON. You will provide companionship, assist with daily activities, and accompany clients to appointments and community events.

We value a caring, patient demeanor, reliability, and clear communication. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass the DEARS assessment are assets; training is provided. This role supports seniors to live independently at home with dignity.

Qualifications

• Experience in caregiving is an asset.
• Strong English communication skills and a compassionate approach.
• Ability to pass the DEARS assessment and obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and emotional support to seniors in their homes, fostering trust and positive relationships.
• Assist clients with daily living activities such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, and errands.
• Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, and community activities.
• Monitor and report changes in client health, mood, or behavior to the care team.
• Engage clients in meaningful conversation, hobbies, and recreational activities to promote mental well-being.
• Provide respite support to family caregivers as needed.
• Maintain accurate client care records and documentation in accordance with company standards.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a caregiving, companion care, or personal support role is an asset
• Genuine passion for working with seniors and elderly individuals
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient, empathetic demeanor
• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy with a professional attitude
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle considered an asset
• Ability to pass the DEARS (Drugs and Ethics) assessment.
• Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector screening required
