Job summary

One Heart Care in Mississauga is seeking a Holter Technician Assistant to attach portable heart monitors to patients, teach data recording during daily life, and ensure equipment functions for premier cardiac care in our community.

The role supports a growing team with 100+ staff, offering collaboration with cardiology specialists and a strong learning environment focused on accuracy and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and completion of a medical assistant or ECG training program is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and ECG/arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Ability to use EMR proficiently.
  • Ability to follow emergency protocols.
  • Excellent communication with patients and physicians.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Strong problem-solving and ability to troubleshoot equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of the Holter team with One Heart Care employees.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Adherence to PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act).

Responsibilities

  • Patient Preparation: Greet patients, verify identity, and explain the testing process clearly.
  • Electrode Placement: Clean skin sites and place ECG electrodes accurately.
  • Device Hookup: Attach, test, and initialize the Holter monitor or ambulatory cardiac device.
  • Patient Education: Instruct patients on diary keeping, symptom logging, and device care during the 24, 48, 72-hour, 7 or 14 day monitoring window.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean, disinfect, troubleshoot, and maintain monitoring hardware and accessories. Document return of monitors upon return.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Device Hookup: Attach, test, and initialize the Holter monitor or ambulatory cardiac device.
  • Patient Education: Instruct patients on diary keeping, symptom logging, and device care during the 24, 48, 72-hour, 7 or 14 day monitoring window.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean, disinfect, troubleshoot, and maintain monitoring hardware and accessories. Document return of monitors upon return.
