Job summary

Amphenol ICC is seeking an Application Development Engineer/Cable Development Engineer in Ottawa to drive custom cable solutions from concept to deployment. You will collaborate with customers to select optimal cables, document designs, and validate with mockups.

You will design high-speed cable assemblies, develop system architecture, and provide onsite support and trainings while managing multiple projects across global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 2-5 years of experience in product development/design.
• Experience designing high speed connectors and cable assemblies with CAD.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to discuss technical topics.
• Analytical reasoning and problem solving; experience with design documentation.
• Ability to create and deliver compelling technical presentations.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and ability to push back on suboptimal design while maintaining relationships.
• Willingness to travel to customer/ODM sites; travel 2–3 weeks per quarter.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to select the best cable solutions and provide technical guidance on system architecture.
• Design custom cable configurations and document with detailed engineering drawings; validate with mockups.
• Assist customers in system architecture and cable management; develop tools for installation/removal.
• Provide onsite technical support and conduct training; support Sales/Marketing with technical materials and customer visits.
• Manage 10-12 concurrent projects and coordinate with global engineering teams.
