Job summary

Rocky View Schools invites applications for a full-time High School teacher on the Complexity team at Chestermere High School, starting immediately. The successful candidate will bring at least 5 years of classroom teaching experience and expertise in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and MTSS.

They will support students in grades 10–12, collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement IPPs and behaviour plans, and contribute to building staff capacity to address classroom challenges.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and MTSS is preferred.
  • Experience working with English language learners is an asset.
  • Literacy or numeracy coaching experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Implement UDL and MTSS to ensure accessible curriculum for all students.
  • Develop and monitor IPPs and positive behaviour support plans.
  • Coordinate with teachers and support staff to address classroom complexities.
  • Use data and assessments to translate student needs into strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Complexity team to coach staff and build capacity.

The Opportunity

RVS invites you to apply for a full-time (1.0 FTE) High School teaching position on the Complexity team starting immediately at Chestermere High School.

This position is not open to those holding a Continuing Teaching contract with RVS.

The Successful Candidate Must Possess The Following
  • Minimum 5 years classroom teacher experience
  • Specialized Expertise: At least 1 year of dedicated experience or educational background in one of the following is an asset:
    • Learning Supports or Inclusive Education (e.g., LST, or specialized certification)
    • Working with students who are English as an Additional Language Learners
    • Literacy or Numeracy Coaching
The Successful Candidate Will
  • have the ability to implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Tiered Interventions (MTSS) to ensure all students can access curriculum appropriate to their level
  • be well-versed in student support planning in development and actualization of Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) and positive behaviour support plans
  • excel in the implementation of complex behavioural supports
  • demonstrate data-driven advocacy and are skilled in using progress monitoring and assessments to translate student needs into actionable classroom strategies
  • work effectively with teams of teachers and support staff to coach and model effective practices that will build staff capacity to address classroom complexities
Pre-employment Requirements
  • Applicants must possess or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate. To be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate you must have applied for initial certification with Alberta Education at .
  • External applicants must provide a professional letter of reference, attached to the job application, from their most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months
  • The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment.
