Job summary

Oxford Learning Kitsilano seeks a part-time teacher-tutor for our learning centre. The role suits those who love working with students, enjoy numbers, and are passionate about helping others build math skills. All lessons are pre-planned; no requirement to lesson-plan.

Schedule includes after-school and evening hours (3:30 pm–7:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am–3:00 pm). In-person role; must commute to Kitsilano. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree or similar in a relevant field.
• Fourth-year students with tutoring experience may be considered.
• Teaching certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of Grades 9–12 math curriculum including functions, algebra, trig, calculus, and vectors.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three students at different levels.
• Use Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Fill in post-lesson notes and update daily student communications.
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner.

High School Math Teacher/Tutor

Oxford Learning Kitsilano seeks a part‑time teacher‑tutor for our learning centre. The position is ideal for those who love working with students, enjoy numbers, and are passionate about helping others build math skills.

All lessons are pre‑planned; no requirement to lesson‑plan before class. Tutors receive full training in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

• Teach during after‑school and evening hours (3:30 pm–7:00 pm), and some Saturdays (10:00 am–3:00 pm). Commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred. Reliability is a must.

• In‑person role; must be able to commute to the Kitsilano location. Relocation packages not available.

• Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification is an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9–12 math curriculum, including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, and vectors.

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring math at Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level.
• Strong English written and oral communication skills.
• Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
