Job summary

Oxford Learning is seeking a High School Math & Science Teacher/Tutor in Aurora, ON to support Grades 9‑12 students after school and in the evenings. This in‑person, part‑time role runs 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with some Saturday shifts, ideal for candidates balancing studies or another job.

You will teach up to three students at different levels, apply Oxford Learning methodologies, and provide post‑lesson notes and updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification is an asset.
• Good knowledge of the Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and science.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three students simultaneously at different levels.
• Apply the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Complete post‑lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Job description

High School Math & Science Teacher/Tutor

Location: Aurora, ON

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay: $17.60 to $20.00 per hour

Hours: After‑school and evening hours (3:00 PM – 8:00 PM) and some Saturdays (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM). Preferred to work until the end of the term in June; continuing through the summer is even better.

Position Requirements

All Teacher‑Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after‑school and evening hours and must be reliable and available on a campus‑based schedule. This is an in‑person role; relocation packages are not available, and a commuting car or transit are required. Vulnerable‑sector screening is mandatory.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field
• Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification is an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math (Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Vectors) and science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

Experience

• Some experience teaching or tutoring math and science at Grades 9‑12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong math skills and the ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
