Job summary

Oxford Learning Woodstock is seeking a part-time teacher-tutor to reinforce high school Math and Science concepts for Grades 9-12. You will work after school and in the evenings, with up to three students per session, in-person at the Woodstock centre and online as needed.

Lessons are pre-planned, and you will receive full training in our proprietary methods. The role emphasizes reliable scheduling, strong English communication, and a passion for helping students succeed in math and science

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Senior year students with tutoring experience may be considered.
  • Teaching certification is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Grades 9–12 math and science curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
  • Teaching online and in-person.
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Filling in post-lesson notes.
  • Completing daily student communication updates.
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Woodstock is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Tutor-teachers at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm). A commitment for the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9 to 12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
