Job summary

Oxford Learning Orangeville is seeking a part‑time high school math/science tutor to work after school, in the evenings, and some Saturdays in our Orangeville learning centre. The role is in‑person, with shifts 4:00–8:00 pm and some Saturdays 10:00 am–3:00 pm.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, and teaching certification is an asset. The tutor will work with grades 9–12 math and science curricula, including calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, and related topics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience are considered.
  • Teaching certification is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to three students at a time.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post‑lesson notes.
  • Complete daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Job description

High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor

Oxford Learning Orangeville, Orangeville, Ontario

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay: $19.00 to $20.00 per hour

We’re looking for an enthusiastic tutor to work after‑school, evenings, and occasional Saturdays in our learning centre. The role is in‑person; relocation packages are not available.

Position Requirements
  • Work hours: 4:00 pm‑8:00 pm after‑school and evenings; some Saturday shifts (10:00 am‑3:00 pm). Commitment until the end of the school year is preferred; continuing through summer is even better.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Must be able to commute to Oxford Learning Orangeville.
  • Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience are considered.
  • Teaching certification is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Experience
  • Some experience teaching or tutoring math and science at a Grade 9–12 (or equivalent) level.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong math skills and the ability to guide students’ understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
