Job summary

Oxford Learning North York Lawrence Plaza in Toronto is seeking a part-time Math/Physics Tutor for Grades 11–12. You will teach senior math topics and physics after school, with up to three students at a time, at the North York Lawrence Plaza centre.

Responsibilities include following Oxford Learning methodologies, providing post-lesson notes, and maintaining clear student updates. A Bachelor’s or similar certification is preferred, with strong English communication and the ability to multitask.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with tutoring experience considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Grades 9-12 math curriculum including senior functions, calculus, vectors and physics

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time, in-person or online
  • Conduct after-school and evening tutoring sessions
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and document post-lesson notes
  • Provide daily student updates and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor
  • Assist with session preparation and adapt as needed

Math/Physics Tutor (Senior level Gr. 11-12)

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning North York Lawrence Plaza is looking for an upbeat, reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic part-time High School Math Teacher who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must possess a strong background in Math and must be comfortable teaching students in Grades 11–12 at all levels. Upbeat math instructors must be comfortable teaching advanced functions, calculus and data management.

We are currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (3:30pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (9:30am - 2:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, and vectors.
  • Ability to tutor Grades 11-12 Physics
Experience
  • Experience teaching/tutoring math at a Grade 11-12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
