Dene Tha' Community School is hiring a dedicated High School Math and Science Teacher.

This is a 1.0 Full Time teaching position for the 2024-2025 School year with the possibility of extending the position for the following school year.

We are looking for candidates who have experience working with First Nation organizations and have experience as an educator.

About Dene Tha Community School

The Dene Tha’ Community School is a school located in North Eastern Alberta in the community of Chateh.

It is a community school with a majority of students coming from the Dene heritage. It has about 210 registered students enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Applicants must have:

• at least a Bachelor of Education degree
• an Alberta Teaching Certificate from the Alberta Teachers’ Association or equivalent
• Criminal Record check
• Child Welfare Check

Other considerations include the following:

• Knowledge of the Alberta Curriculum.
• Have knowledge and experience working with students who have special needs with the ability to adapt programs to account for a diversity of learning needs;
• Have excellent class management and supervision skills ;
• Demonstrate empathy, flexibility, and professional work ethics ;
• Can, or will become, student learning focused with abilities to adapt and implement instructional programs and methods; Knowledge, or desire, to be involved in extra-curricular activities;
• Proficient in using SmartBoards, Computers, Lumio, Google Classroom and other technologies.
• Willing to learn, and assess students in our comprehensive literary and numeracy program: Essential Skills, Mathletics, and Exam bank.
• Background in arts, music, and land-based outdoor programming ;
• Knowledge and experience with Power School, Teacher Pro, and Land-based programming
