STEM Innovation Academy is a dynamic public charter school in Calgary, founded in September 2021. Our junior high campus serves over 450 students in grades 7-9, while our high school campus, launched in September 2022 in the University Innovation Quarter, has rapidly grown to host 710 students with plans to reach a capacity of 1,000 students in Fall 2025.

Position Information

High School English Language Arts Teacher

Education and Experience
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
  • Exemplary, evidence-based instructional practices in high school English that lead to student success.
  • Experience, confidence, skill, knowledge, and understanding of Alberta Program of Studies and scoring criteria for provincial assessments.
  • Commitment to academic rigour and excellence.
  • Capacity to differentiate instructional practices, use effective student engagement strategies, and employ outcome-based assessment and reporting.
  • Collaboration with staff team in developing innovative learning experiences for students.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Innovators mindset - willingness to take risks and adapt to new challenges and interest in acquiring the skill sets required to teach various STEM complementary courses.
  • Basic understanding of design & engineering, digital media technologies, and/or computational thinking is an asset.
  • Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Schoology, GradeCam, etc.
