Job summary

TC Energy in Bolton, Ontario, is hiring a permanent Pilot to support our pipeline patrol operations across Canada and the USA, based in Bolton. You will act as Pilot in Command, overseeing the helicopter's operation and safety, and coordinating with the base manager for flight execution.

This role requires thorough preflight planning, safety briefings, and documentation; international travel, up to 50% of the schedule, and occasional overnight stays will be needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate.
• Commercial (or higher) Canadian pilot license with minimum 3000 turbine helicopter hours.
• Restricted Radiotelephone Operator License.
• Experience on AS350B3, H125, BH206 L4, BH206 Jetranger.
• Recent flying in wires training and low-level patrol experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Act as Pilot in Command or delegate as directed by base manager.
• Ensure safe operation of the helicopter and the crew during flight.
• Coordinate flight operations with lines of business to deliver helicopter expertise.
• Provide safety briefings and survival equipment instruction.
• Preflight planning and cargo loading/securement per weight limits.
• Complete administrative tasks: flight times, document revision, timesheets.
• Support the Safety Management System by reporting hazards and incidents.

Minimum Qualifications -AS350B3, H125, BH206 L4, BH206 Jetranger

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
• Valid Commercial (or higher) Canadian pilot license with minimum of 3000 flight hours on Turbine powered helicopters. Ability to work in a two crew operation
  
• Restricted Radiotelephone Operator License
• Experience on AS350B3, H125 aircraft, BH206 L4, BH206 Jetranger
  
• Recent Flying in the Wires Training
• Be comfortable to patrol at low level operations
• Must be able to work independently without constant supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Canadian Air Regulations with significant experience flying in Canadian remote as well as high density airspace
  
• Experience conducting Pipeline line patrols
• Solid aviation knowledge base including weather reporting, GPS and electronic mapping navigational techniques, weather minima, and aircraft radio communication
  
• Comfortable working with modern electronic systems and document control
  
• Must possess and demonstrate well developed communication, public relations, and documentation writing skills
  
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and decisiveness in stressful and emergency situations
  
• First aid training

This position requires candidates to:

• Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
  
• Successfully a complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
• Travel to other company locations
• Overnight stays away from home base will be required (estimated up 50% of work schedule)
  
• Possess, or be eligible to receive, a valid passport and maintain travel eligibility for Domestic, Cross Border, and International Travel (including the USA and Mexico)
  
• Criminal background checks will be required
• Positions requires variable works days including weekends
• Must be within a reasonable driving time of TC Energy Bolton hangar

This is a full-time permanent position (non-rotational)

As a key member of our flight operations team, you will play a critical role in delivering essential services to support TC Energy’s infrastructure. This position offers unique flying opportunities, including aerial support for Pipeline patrols, personal transport.

What you’ll do

• Act as Pilot in Command or delegate as directed by the base manager or Chief Pilot
• Be responsible for the operation and safety of the helicopter, and for the safety and security of all persons involved during flight operations
• Provide liaison with the company’s lines of business in determining the flight operation of the helicopter to deliver the necessary expertise for helicopter-related work
• Provide safety briefings including instruction on aircraft safety/survival equipment location and techniques of use in the event of emergency
• Thorough preflight planning for each day’s patrol schedule. Overseeing safe configuration of aircraft, i.e. adherence to all up-weight load – limit specifications and proper loading and securement of cargo
• Conduct administrative tasks at obligatory intervals such as recording flight duty times, aircraft document revision control, and expense and time sheet management. Help with hangar related tasks when needed
• Participate in the Company’s Safety Management system by regularly reporting hazards and incidents when encountered and aiding in the corrective action follow up process
