Job summary

Barnhart is seeking a Trailer Operator to lead heavy haul moves and specialized transports across North America. You will read transport plans, assemble and prep trailer systems, and perform pre-operational inspections to ensure safe, compliant operations.

You will work with experienced drivers, riggers, and project teams, verifying loads, operating conventional and hydraulic trailers, and participating in toolbox talks to uphold Barnhart’s safety standards and project delivery commitments.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• 1–3 years of experience operating trailers and/or hydraulic platform trailers.
• Strong commitment to safe equipment operation and transportation practices.
• Ability to stay alert and maintain concentration in demanding environments.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good judgment and the ability to react appropriately in emergencies.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs.
• Time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand transport plans to safely execute moves.
• Assemble, configure, and prepare heavy haul and hydraulic trailer systems.
• Perform pre-operational inspections and regularly inspect equipment.
• Verify loads are secured and within load limits during transport.
• Operate conventional and hydraulic trailers on simple and complex projects.
• Pilot over-dimensional loads when required.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
• Maintain high concentration while operating equipment in dynamic settings.
• Communicate effectively with team members and project personnel.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and troubleshoot as needed.
• Support additional transportation and project activities as assigned.
