Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies in Milton, ON is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to repair and maintain construction and forestry equipment in our shop. You will diagnose, disassemble/assemble, order parts, and perform preventive maintenance while documenting all actions clearly.

Preferred candidates hold a certified journeyperson designation in heavy equipment, with prior shop experience and knowledge of electrical diagnosis.

Qualifications

• Certified journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment trade preferred.
• Previous mechanical experience in heavy equipment is preferred.
• Experience with electrical diagnosis/troubleshooting is a plus.
• Commitment to customer service and service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy-duty equipment in a shop setting.
• Evaluate condition, disassemble/assemble, order parts as needed.
• Use related instruments, tools, and computer systems.
• Document machine information and time on work orders.
• Assess service task hazards and work to accepted safety standards.
• Document maintenance and diagnosis using John Deere Service Advisor.
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation.

Description

Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Milton, ON location. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy-duty equipment
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

What We Look For

• Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred
• Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred
• Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment considered an asset
• Experience with electrical diagnosis /troubleshooting and aftertreatment systems considered an asset
• Must be committed to customer service and service excellence
