Brandt is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling for our Moncton location. The Heavy Equipment Technician will independently perform diagnostics, service, maintenance, and repair work on customer and dealer-owned equipment, ensuring customer issues are resolved satisfactorily and promptly.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Performance :
- Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.
- Maintain high productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
- Achieve a work quality metric of 98% (work completed right the first time).
Work Systems and Procedures :
- Accurately record all work for customer and warranty records.
- Maintain current product knowledge specific to industry and branch location.
- Keep a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for employees and customers.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- Work within the guidelines set by management.
- Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Service Manager or Department Foreman.
- Participate in training programs to develop skills and knowledge, including industry-specific technologies.
- Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Mentor and oversee apprentices.
Diagnostic and Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulic Repair :
- Perform diagnostics on power equipment to determine repair needs.
- Diagnose and repair related systems, including disassembly, assembly, and repairs.
- Conduct inspections on equipment as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, stackers, and electric carts.
- Use tools like drill presses, grinders, air compressors, and hand/power tools for maintenance and repairs.
- Prepare reports and forms related to job assignments, including submitting work orders upon completion.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
- Diagnostic skills for mechanical and electrical systems of battery and engine-powered equipment.
- Experience with hand tools, measuring devices, and electrical/electronic diagnostic tools.
- Experience with industrial equipment, including lifting, maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery.
- Experience with equipment alignment, using dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, hoists, or jacks is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills to perform under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Trade qualifications in Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Automotive, or Truck/Transport are assets.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
Required Experience
- Same as skills above, emphasizing diagnostic and repair expertise and experience with industrial equipment.
