Guelph, ONHeavy Equipment Technician (421A)Heavy Civil, Highway & RoadSalary: $35-$45/hour (based on experience), overtime, truck, gas card, pension, benefits, RRSP matching, day shiftOUR CLIENTOur client is a reputable, well-established, Canadian-owned construction contractor and building materials supplier.This role will have you reporting to the Controller and working within a supportive environment with many tenured employees.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE- A 421A license is required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the industry;
- Experience reading schematics (Electrical and hydraulic);
- Strong knowledge in hydraulic, electric, and electronic;
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills;
- High level of comfort in using a computer daily;
- Good organization and time management skills;
- Results focused.
WHAT'S REQUIRED- Complete diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on our equipment while maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality;
- Complete work orders electronically and ensure work is coded correctly for invoicing;
- Electronically look up parts, manuals, schematics, etc.;
- Order the necessary parts to complete a repair;
- Conduct safety checks on equipment;
- Perform recalls and service bulletins;
- Occasionally work as part of a team to complete larger scoped repairs;
- Communicate with Shop Manager regarding repairs and challenges; good communication skills, and be able to interact positively with customers, supervisors, and colleagues
- Keep neat and organized records of services and work in process;
- Keep workspace neat, organized, clean and tidy.
- Be able to accurately diagnose and troubleshoot faulty equipment by implementing critical thinking and utilizing diagnostic software.
- Perform service and repairs in the shop and in the field, when needed. Mobile repair truck provided.
