Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (421A) to join our team of skilled fleet and operations professionals.The Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic will get the chance to assist in the mechanical repair and maintenance of our extensive fleet of heavy construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, mining and agricultural equipment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Inspect equipment in operation, test equipment, systems and components
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of equipment systems including fuel system, using hand tools and other specialized repair equipment
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications
  • Advise company on work performed, general equipment condition and future repair requirements
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
  • Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
  • Occasionally perform mobile services on a rotating basis with other mechanics

Requirements:

  • License with a clean abstract
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics
  • Familiarity with construction sites is an asset
  • Physical ability to lift upwards of 50lbs
  • Familiarity with hazards associated with the trade

Employment Credentials:

  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A) or Agricultural Equipment Technician (425A) Certificate of Qualification, Truck and Coach Technician (310T) or
  • Currently enrolled in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A) apprenticeship program. Level 3 preferred.
