Job summary

LaPrairie Crane in Winnipeg, MB is seeking skilled Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our growing team. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery on site and during travel to other LaPrairie locations.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, trade certification or apprenticeship documentation, and hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Apprenticeship Documentation.
• CVIP License is considered an asset.
• Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
• Understanding of computer testing technologies.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect heavy equipment for proper performance.
• Diagnose faults using computerized testing equipment.
• Adjust equipment and replace faulty parts.
• Repair damaged equipment parts.
• Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles.
• Repairing and servicing machine attachments.
• Performing major repair work when necessary.
• Travel to other LaPrairie Crane locations when needed and be away for extended periods.
• Communicate with Mechanics and Supervisor when needed.
• Report damaged or faulty equipment to management.

LaPrairie Crane is one of Canada’s largest independent mobile-crane companies with fleet capabilities ranging from 5 – 600 tons, including all terrain, boom truck, carry deck, crawler, hydraulic truck, rough terrain, and tower cranes.

We are seeking applications from skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians who are interested in joining our growing team in Winnipeg, MB.

The successful candidate will report to the Regional Manager and will satisfy the following criteria:

Duties will include the following:

• Inspecting heavy equipment for proper performance
• Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
• Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
• Repairing damaged equipment parts
• Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles
• Repairing and servicing machine attachments
• Performing major repair work when necessary
• Consulting with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed
• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
• Travel to other LaPrairie Crane locations when needed and be away for extended periods of time
• Performs other duties as required

Desired skills and Experience:

• Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Apprenticeship Documentation
• CVIP License is considered an asset

This role may include shift rotations, including to Yorkton, SK and other LaPrairie Crane locations, for periods up to 6 months or longer depending on business needs.
