Job summary

Falcon Equipment Ltd. is seeking a fully qualified Heavy Equipment Technician to perform on‑road and shop repairs in the Winnipeg region. You will diagnose defects, install new equipment, and troubleshoot electrical/hydraulic systems while following safety policies.

With 5+ years of experience and a Red Seal or equivalent, you will travel as needed, mentor apprentices, and maintain detailed maintenance records to support efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Fully Qualified Heavy Equipment Journeyperson with a Heavy Duty Red Seal Ticket or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in the related field.
  • Impeccable Safety awareness and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment on the road and in the shop.
  • Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment.
  • Installation of new and added-on equipment; electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance; maintain reports and documentation.
  • Instruct apprentices (if applicable) and travel as required.
  • Adhere to safety policies and report unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Keep accurate maintenance reports and time cards.

Job description

To perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy equipment including truck-mounted cranes, municipal and rail equipment on the road / field, utilizing the company service vehicle in our Winnipeg region.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment on the road and in the shop when required
  • Help build and expand the Service Department by looking for new customers to support and equipment to work on
  • Operate the service vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all traffic laws at all times
  • Responsible for the safe storage of the service vehicle when not on the road
  • Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment
  • Operate various types of servicing equipment
  • Installation of new and added-on equipment
  • Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Perform incidental welding operations on equipment
  • Accurate completion of work orders and time cards
  • Repair cable/electrical/air-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Instruct apprentices (if applicable)
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Self-starter and self-managing, able to consistently source and schedule work and be in the right place at the right time.
  • Fully Qualified Heavy Equipment Journeyperson with a Heavy Duty Red Seal Ticket or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in the related field.
  • Mechanically and electrically inclined – with a sound working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Impeccable Safety awareness.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a recent clean driver’s abstract.
  • Proven abilities in reading and understanding hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised in inclement weather and remote locations in a fast-paced environment. Able to travel for long periods and book own out of hours accommodation.
  • Experience with service work orders and the ability to maintain customer transactions and technical stories related to maintenance/repair operations, with good attention to detail.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Must be fully computer literate.
  • Weight handling of up to 80 lbs. required
