Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our shop serving Rimbey, AB. This full-time day-shift role offers a $42 per hour wage plus a $5,000 new-hire bonus and comprehensive benefits.

You will maintain and repair school buses, diagnose brake and engine issues, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure safety and reliability for students. ASE training and company resources are provided to support growth.

Qualifications

• 310T license and diesel/auto maintenance experience or equivalent education.
• Vehicle diagnostics and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Mechanic’s tool set to complete duties.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for passengers.
• Diagnose and repair brakes, engines, suspensions, drive trains and other components.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.

About the Technician Position

As a Technician with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.

Technician key responsibilities include:

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers.

• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.

• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.

• Complete work orders accurately.

• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.

Heavy Equipment Technician Qualifications

• 310T license and years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience.

• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

• Valid driver's license required.

• Possession of a mechanic's tool set to complete all assigned duties.

• Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).

• Strong computer skills.
