Job summary

First Student in Georgetown, ON is seeking a part-time Technician to join our shop team. You’ll help maintain and repair school buses to keep students safe, on time, and riding with confidence throughout the community.

We offer a $40/hr pay rate with a possibility to increase through ASE certification tests, a Monday–Friday day shift, company-paid ASE training, boots and safety glasses allowances, and discounts through PerkSpot. Background checks apply.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set to complete all assigned duties.
• Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety.
• Diagnose and perform maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.

About the Technician Position

As a Technician with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.

Technician key responsibilities include:

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections
• Complete work orders accurately
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed

Technician Qualifications

• At least 5 years of automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver's license required
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set to complete all assigned duties
• Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided)
• Strong computer skills
